Channel and Inland Waterway Navigation

GyroPilot PPU

The GyroPilot is an excellent device to support a broad range of professional pilotage and navigation operations. The GyroPilot is a compact unit which plugs in the ships AIS plug. It transmits AIS position data, measures and provides independent Rate-of-Turn (from the internal gyro) and smoothed Heading (HDG/HDT) data (up to 2 decimal points). This data is wirelessly transmitted to the laptop/tablet which is loaded with the navigation software and appropriate charts giving the user precise and stable information needed to support many maneuvers. The GyroPilot is best suited to pilots wanting to use the ships pilot plug but also wanting better (and stable) Heading and Rate-of-Turn data, which is almost never available from the ship. The GyroPilot comes loaded with features like the ability to wirelessly link external sensors to get more independent data (like position and/or heading) to augment the systems performance. The GyroPilot Plus is an optional add-on position sensor which links wirelessly (via Bluetooth) with the GyroPilot. Like all Navicom PPU’s, the GyroPilot is compatible with all leading piloting software available across the world which is a unique advantage of Navicom gear.

Portable Pilot Units â€“ Maritime Pilots

ChannelPilot PPU

The ChannelPilot is a top-selling PPU for users seeking a Portable Pilot unit that is semi-independent from the ships systems.
ChannelPilot has independent sensors to calculate accurate GNSS position. Using a combination of multi GNSS constellations (GPS/ GLONASS/BEIDOU) augmented with SBAS (where available) corrections, it calculates a very accurate position to less than 1m accuracy. It calibrates with the ships AIS for heading information to calculate and smooth the input AIS Heading (HDG) to generate very accurate and importantly, stable data for the software to use. From its internal gyro, it generates highly accurate Rate-of-Turn information which is also provided to the software. The ChannelPilot feeds the position, heading and ROT data to the software along with all AIS targets in the vicinity. The result is very good quality information bring processed to create a scale image of the vessel on the software & chart on the laptop/ tablet. The better the quality of the data that is fed into the software, the more stable the image and robust the predictor. The ChannelPilot is most suited for narrow channel or river pilotage. It also supports some docking and berthing maneuvers. It is an exceptional device for navigation in low visibility conditions

Lightering and Ship to Ship Transfer â€“ Mooring Masters

GyroPilot-Plus PPU

GyroPilot Plus is a high-performance, add-on sensor for the GyroPilot v3. It provides SBAS corrected position information that is fully independent of the ships’ own AIS position, giving you the high quality data required from precise navigation. This is designed for pilots and mooring masters who require independent position for finer maneuvers such as offshore vessel mooring operations during lightering and ship to ship transfer to augment the information coming from the Pilot Plug. The GyroPilot Plus is the same lightweight and portable design as the GyroPilot V3.

Harbor Navigation and Vessel Berthing

HabourPilot PPU

The HarbourPilot range consists of top-end, dual antenna systems that are fully independent of the ships systems. Depending on the level of accuracy sought and the application of use, the HarbourPilot range offers two systems â€“ HarbourPilot Triton and HarbourPilot Lightweight. For independent positioning, the HarbourPilot systems are all multi constellation (mGNSS) capable and can receive augmentation via SBAS, DGPS or RTK providing sub-meter accuracies even down to 10 cm (using RTK). The Triton series is available with a full GNSS configuration with dual frequency L band (L1 & L2) in its receiver. The Lightweight is L1 GPS, GLONASS with built in SBAS and options for receiving DGPS or RTK corrections. HarbourPilot Triton doesn’t require a fixed antenna separation to be pre-programmed. The ruggedized version offers near RTK levels of positioning accuracy using the Atlas satellite-based correction service anywhere in the world. As a high precision Portable Pilot Unit, HarbourPilot provides marine pilots with reliable information, which is fully independent from ship’s data thereby removing the vagaries of AIS data from the pilot plug and greatly improving operational safety and efficiency. No matter the type of piloting operation, HarbourPilot is the ultimate decision support tool from boarding to berthing.

Offshore FPS Berthing and Mooring

ShuttlePilot PPU

For the Offshore Oil and Gas industry, ShuttlePilot is a completely customizable berthing aid which is designed to assist pilots in the process of monitoring the berthing of offload tankers to an FPSO/FSO/SBM. ShuttlePilot gives accurate and real-time information of relative positioning and complete awareness of the dynamics of both vessels during the approach. With ShuttlePilot, the efficiency and safety of oil and gas operations, can be significantly boosted. In addition to its primary navigation function, ShuttlePilot also offers a host of additional options to augment robustness and safety of operations.
